God continues to nudge me towards into receiving his gift of a Catholic community because he is good all the time. He has called me to be part of his mission to spread the love and communion to my fellow university students. My brother previously from NUS told me once that in university, there are many CCAs and societies I can take part and he mentioned that there are also other religious student organisations in NUS. I did not pay much attention back then as I was still serving my national service. It is only in 2017 that I started to search for a university retreat or camp that I attended Kickstart 2017 retreat, organized by Office of Young People that I met many university

students across Singapore and similar students like me going to be enrolled in NUS. I found out that many of them are very much the rest of the congregation trying to seek God and to recover what each has lost in their life. For me, I am very thankful for what God has wanted me to live with one community after meeting a group of fantastic youth ministry in my parish at the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour (OLPS). Needless to say, NUS CSS has called me to be home with the Lord presence as he journeyed with us to bring hope and light to others.

Going to weekday mass has built my faith and interest to know and encounter the Lord in my daily life. It gave me new strength to overcome every temptation because I know that despite me not having attended any CCAs, it has transformed the way I view mass as something sacred not based on the rituals and rules, but sacred to the body of Christ. As we celebrate as a community in NUS CSS by reflecting the Word of God and receiving the Eucharist, it has brought about a new change in my spiritual habit. Since we can safely rely on him for his powerful intercession for him to help us complete our projects or upcoming assignments, we would never lose our sight of Christ because we are giving the greater glory to him since our work is in his hands. The true goodness and joy come from encountering GOD’s Love in his community. There is also Faculty-based Cell Groups (CG) held every week and Antioch that is held once every 2 weeks. Both have helped me understand the lord and myself better as we gathered to re-orientate ourselves with Christ by placing him at the centre of our lives.

There have been many faith experiences in NUS in my life and we often fall into spiritual amnesia forgetting what the Lord has done. There will be times during university when we are tempted by people and decisions who draw us away from loving Jesus. In 1 Peter 1:7, “…Your faith will be like gold that has been tested in a fire. And these trials will prove that your faith is worth much more than gold that can be destroyed. They will show that you will be given praise and honour and glory when Jesus Christ returns…” and in 1 James 1:3, “…For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow…

So, do you desire to make a change for the Lord? Start with Jesus Christ by joining NUS CSS today!
